F.A.Q.

  1.  No pinning or spray basting necessary. All of that is handled by the longarm.
  2. Backing should be at minimum 4" larger than your quilt top, on all sides. Example: 68" square top: 72" square backing.  Err on the side of too large.
  3. Batting should be at minimum 2" larger than your quilt top, on all sides. Example: 68" square top: 70" square backing. Err on the side of too large.
  4. Trimming is optional. Please let me know if you'd like me to do so. Extra batting can be 'donated' for donation quilts.
  5. For directional backing: Please pin or clip a note with 'TOP' or 'UP' to the backing and the quilt top, where you'd like the quilt and top of the backing to be. Pictures in an email also work, if you have concerns or want to discuss it.
  6. If you can, please run a “stay stitch” line about 1/8″ from the edge all the way around the quilt top.  Especially if you have piecing to the edge, this helps stabilize your quilt and stops any seams from popping on the outside of your quilt.
  7. Any and all challenges or popped-seams will be discussed with you, as well as options to address them, including: ladder stitching for a fee, repairing for a fee, or sending back for you to repair.
  8. Fullness and wavy borders will be addressed to the best of my ability. I generally use the water/steam, or displacement with a weighted item to do so. If any further steps need to be taken - you will be notified to choose the method you would be happiest with.
  9. Please square up your tops and backs. We are happy to piece and square backs for a fee.
  10. Please clip and remove any stray and loose threads from the top. I run a lint roller over the quilts, but may not get all of the threads.
  11. Press your top and backing well.  Some light creases due to shipping/short-term storage are fine, but if it has been in the “to be quilted” pile for a significant amount of time and has heavy creasing, please press before sending it to us.
  12. When shipping, write "craft" on your receipts- do not put any identifying information that you are sending a quilt. This is a general safety precaution.
  13. Pin a card or paper with your name, address, and email address to the top before you put it in a water tight bag for shipping. This is helpful in instances where your label or box gets damaged.
  14. Shipping is at the owner's risk. If there are any issues, I will do my best to assist with any investigation. Please ask for tracking on every package.
